The National Association of Home Builders Endorses Congressman Cleaver
The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) today endorsed Representative Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo.) for re-election to Congress.
“Rep. Cleaver knows that housing is critical to a strong and prosperous nation and has worked tirelessly to champion policies to keep housing a national priority and to advance the housing recovery,” said NAHB Chairman Randy Noel, a custom home builder from LaPlace, La.
Housing is important to local, state and national economies and accounts for about 15 percent of the nation’s Gross Domestic Product. NAHB believes in this critical election year that it is important to elect pro-housing, pro-business candidates to Congress in order to ensure that the housing and economic recovery continues to move forward.
“We are proud to endorse Rep. Cleaver for re-election in November because he supports policies to remove needless regulatory barriers that will allow home builders to provide more safe and affordable housing for hard-working American families,” said Noel.
New home construction is an engine of job creation. On average, workers from 22 fields are needed to build a home. Constructing 100 single-family homes creates nearly 300 full-time jobs and $11.1 million in fees and taxes for all levels of government to help fund schools, roads, police and firefighters.
ABOUT NAHB: The National Association of Home Builders is a Washington-based trade association representing more than 140,000 members involved in home building, remodeling, multifamily construction, property management, subcontracting, design, housing finance, building product manufacturing and other aspects of residential and light commercial construction. NAHB is affiliated with 700 state and local home builders associations around the country. NAHB’s builder members will construct about 80 percent of the new housing units projected for this year.
